Extra Credit: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

EXTRA CREDIT, a new partnership between Ragtag Cinema and The Connector, is a series featuring MU researchers discussing a monthly movie in relation to their research and creative activities. October’s film is Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, followed by a Q&A and discussion featuring MU faculty and researchers.

In Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, a teen who spends most of his time making parodies of movies finds his outlook on life forever changed after befriending a classmate who has just been diagnosed with leukemia.

Meet the panelists:
Lynn Nichols RN, CBCN has worked for 21 years as a registered nurse with MU Health Care. Her prior experience has included Intensive Care Unit and Emergency medicine. Since 2009, her clinical focus has been in Surgical Oncology primarily working with breast cancer. In 2018, she accepted a nurse navigator position with Ellis Fischel Cancer Center.

Katina Bitsicas, MFA is a new media artist who utilizes video, photography, and performance in her artworks, which explore the effects of crime, trauma, and architectural containments on the human psyche. She has exhibited in national and international galleries and museums including The Armory Show in New York, Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Fe, NM, HereArt in New York, Bangkok Biennial, and the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, FL. She received her BA from Kalamazoo College and MFA from the University of South Florida and is the Director and Assistant Professor of Digital Storytelling at the University of Missouri.

These screenings will be regular price for the general public and free for Ragtag members*. Tickets will be available at the Ragtag Cinema Box Office and online at ragtagcinema.org on the day of the show only. Ragtag members will need to get their ticket in person at the box office.
