On the hottest day of the year on a street in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, everyone's hate and bigotry smolders and builds until it explodes into violence.

Do the Right Thing premiered in 1989, the same year Nikki McGruder’s family moved to Columbia. While she is a fan of the film programming at Ragtag she can't deny her true love... Uprise grilled cheese. Nikki is a cool mom who has a strong ability to keep up with the latest dance crazes!Do the Right Thing is one of Spike Lee's most fully realized efforts -- and one of the most important films of the 1980s. This powerful visual feast combines humor and drama with memorable characters while tracing the course of a single day on a block in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn. I

"Do the Right Thing is an exceptional film, a movie that wisely deprives you of the cozy resolutions and epiphanies so often manufactured by Hollywood. Like the film's principals, you are left feeling that you have been torched where you live." (Carrie Rickey, Philadelphia Inquirer)

About CoMo Famous

Ragtag Film Society (Ragtag Cinema and True/False Film Fest) is proud to announce CoMo Famous, a new fundraiser that celebrates the local community. For CoMo Famous, six prominent Columbians have selected a favorite film to screen for one night at Ragtag Cinema, 10 Hitt Street. Contestants will compete for the largest amount of money raised from ticket sales and donations for their screening.

The funds raised for CoMo Famous will ensure that Ragtag Film Society can continue to screen the best of independent film at Ragtag Cinema every day and transform Columbia during the four days of the True/False Film Fest.

CoMo Famous is presented by LaBrunerie Financial.
