Singular, strong and bold performances shine in this year's Homebrewed lineup as characters face ghosts, grief, wasted bros and even the complexity of acting itself. Two debut feature directors (Bridey Elliott and Russell Harbaugh) and two seasoned indie darlings (Sebastián Silva; The Maid, Nasty Baby, Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus
and Josephine Decker; Butter on the Latch, Thou Wast Mild
) showcase their ability to pull actors into unique worlds, each with signature, stunning results. Refracting the current American experience, these films beam with hope and humanity, exposing cinema — from all sides of the camera — as the powerful beacon it can be.
